children wearing backpacks

The Backpacks for Kids program began as a community outreach project between the Greater Tulsa Association of REALTORS® and Family & Children’s Services of Tulsa in 2006. In the past 19 years, the Backpacks for Kids program has raised over $600,000 to purchase and fill close to 7,000 backpacks for children in need with essentials such as: pants, shirts, socks and shoes, underwear, and a variety of toiletries for the first day of school. Each backpack is specifically packed for every child and cost approximately $90.00. In early August, before the first day of school, the kids and their families are invited to a pizza party where they receive their backpacks.

Children are chosen by Family & Children’s Services of Tulsa from families within their 49 life-changing programs for adults and children in mental health, substance abuse, and family services. We are proud to say, we are one of the 49 incredible programs!
